Recipe: BCAA Jello
If you’re in contest prep or cutting for your next weightlifting meet, I’m sure you understand that dieting can have it’s ups and downs. You love seeing changes in your physique and performances, but you may not have the same relationship with your macronutrients. Fats and carbohydrates can plummet drastically leaving you with very little room for variety and even if you’re getting shredded, chances are you’re also losing some muscle mass. Branched-Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) can help protect your muscles against the catabolic effects of dieting so you can maintain that hard earned muscle mass you worked for tirelessly for.
This is one of the easiest recipes for a zero-carb and fat-free snack, or if you’re like me – a treat.
Here’s how you make BCAA Jell-O!
Ingredients:
1 scoop BCAAs (i.e. Cellucor Alpha Amino Fruit Punch) 1 pack plain gelatin Water
Directions:
Grab your favorite flavor BCAAs. In a big bowl, add a scoop of BCAAs and a pack of plain old-fashioned powdered gelatin (11g).
In a separate microwave safe dish or stovetop pan, add 2.5 cups of water and heat it up (microwave or use stovetop). It does not need to boil. It just needs to be hot enough to dissolve the gelatin.
Pour the water into the bowl. Stir until the liquid is clear and the powder has completely dissolved.
Once it has dissolved, stick the whole thing in your fridge and leave it overnight so it sets. You may want to pour the liquid into snack size bowls or into a square or rectangular dish to make portioning easier.
Enjoy!
